[Case Study] Heiki Marine Transport Co., Ltd. <Explosion-proof Structure>

The installation of a "ceiling" necessary for temperature management is not possible. A solution has emerged by focusing on the on-site environment.

We would like to introduce a case study of problem-solving at Heiki Kaiun, which has newly entered the hazardous materials warehouse industry that requires special structures and strict constraints. The basic structure of a hazardous materials warehouse is designed to allow for explosions to vent from the roof. When temperature control is necessary, the installation of "ceiling insulation panels" is effective, but it is rare to obtain installation permission under the Fire Service Act. Therefore, we approached the solution with a "ceiling installation." We focused on a site facing the sea with few adjacent buildings and pedestrian traffic, proposing a "lateral" explosion venting structure that directs the explosion away from the door. By reducing the risk of triggering an accident through the "size of the reserved space" and ensuring that the explosion direction is towards the spacious area and the sea, and by designing the door as an explosion venting structure, we were able to prove its strength numerically and obtain permission from the fire department. [Case Overview] ■ Issue: Explosion venting structure ■ Solution: Door explosion venting structure that meets special conditions ■ Industry: Transportation and warehousing ■ Warehouse Type: Hazardous materials warehouse, temperature-controlled warehouse ■ Stored Items: Hazardous materials *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] China Essential Oil Co., Ltd. Mizushima Plant <Storage Efficiency>

The challenge is to improve the efficiency of "storage"! Achieving maximum results under the constraints of fire safety regulations.

We would like to introduce a case study of problem-solving at a Chinese essential oil company engaged in the distillation and refining of chemicals. The company was unable to store products and raw materials solely in its own factory warehouse and was also utilizing external warehouses. However, the application process to the fire department and the lack of coordination between the company and the external warehouses hindered their ability to maximize production. To address this, they decided to build a new warehouse within their factory to "improve storage efficiency." By constructing two separate buildings, they reduced the multiples of the designated quantities, achieving increased storage while keeping costs down. [Case Overview] ■ Issue: Storage efficiency ■ Solution: Separate construction of two buildings / Outdoor loading area installation ■ Industry: Manufacturing ■ Warehouse Type: Hazardous materials warehouse ■ Stored Items: Petroleum products and raw materials *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. <Project Promotion>

The mission is not construction, but guidance! Towards appropriate specifications in the "Firefighting Council."

We would like to introduce a case study on problem-solving at Sankyu Co., Ltd., which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018. In response to the directive from the local fire department regarding "20 air changes per hour" for ventilation, we went back to discussions with the design office and explained our past achievements. We obtained permission for 5 air changes per hour. For the lightning protection system, we changed the costly "spike type" plan to a "conductor type." We proposed and adopted just the right specifications for both the ventilation and lightning protection systems. 【Case Overview】 ■ Issue: Project Promotion ■ Solution: Effective Use of Site / Fire Department Consultation ■ Industry: Comprehensive Logistics ■ Warehouse Type: Hazardous Materials Warehouse ■ Stored Items: Fire Service Act Class 1, 2, 4, 5 *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Tsunamis and salt damage unique to coastal areas caused by heavy rain and typhoons. Minimizing risks from a broad perspective.

We would like to introduce a case study of problem-solving at Heiki Kaiun, which has built the foundation of its business through harbor transportation and newly entered the hazardous materials warehouse industry. In September 2018, Typhoon No. 21 caused significant damage primarily in the Kinki region, with the high tide levels predicted by public agencies far exceeded at the newly established site. As a result, the company raised the ground level based not only on public agency data but also on actual damage. Although raising the ground level is costly, the company prioritized the safety of people and products and chose to raise the ground as high as possible. 【Case Overview】 ■ Issue: BCP measures (flooding, power outages) ■ Solution: Significant ground elevation / Installation of generators and cubicles in high indoor locations ■ Industry: Transportation and warehousing ■ Warehouse Type: Hazardous materials warehouse, general warehouse ■ Stored Items: Hazardous materials *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
